Misty Morning at Mormon Row
On my recent trip to grand tetons one of the shots I wanted get was from the famous mormon Row barns but as luck goes there were forest fires every where and visibility was extremely bad to get a shot . I kept trying for 4 continoues days to get a good sunrise shot but all was in vain until my last day in Tetons, I experienced a pretty dramatic scene unfold before me. Along with the early morning fog came the low lying clouds that were dense and for a brief moment I could see the colors in the sky change and a glimpse of the Tetons in the background I took a few shots as the scene unravelled. here is one of the panoramic shots I took.
This image is made with 6 images stitched together in Photoshop.
I have used some curves and levels adjustment with layer masking and tonal adjustments with a little boost to saturation, its not a HDR shot.

Hope you like it ...feel free to share it with your friends and family

Rainbow at sunset Palouse Falls
This water falls is amazing its literally middle of nowhere in Pallouse WA.
I lost missed taking this shot but as so exited to find out while reviewing my shots from palouse that i dint miss the rainbow at sunset.
It was over cast all day long and I had kind of given hope on any dramatic lighting and was just chilling when the sky started erupting and a rainbow appeared on the upper half of the ridge...I ran to the top of the vantage point trying to find a good spot among other fellow photographer to capture this scene, it was a struggle but I managed to geta few last minute shots. Initially I though I had missed the magic moment and was totally bummed about it but today while reviewing my shots in lightroom I just managed to see a little glimpse of the rainbow and decided to salvage as much of it as possible. hope you like this one

Bad Water Sunset
One of the most amazing places I have seen. Its the lowest elevation point in contigous USA at 282 ft below sea level. The formations that you see in the foreground is made up of Salt. The salt flats in Badwater Basin cover nearly 200 square miles, these salt crystals are very delicate and are crushed easily so vehicles are not allowed.

Death Valley is such a bizarre place
just before this sunset Its was absolutely crazy with a horrible sand storm blowing all afternoon long and suddenly it just cleared up and I had to scramble to get to bad water for this shot. hope you enjoy it

Balanced Rock Under Milky Way
Balanced Rock is one of the most popular features of Arches National Park, situated in Grand County, Utah, United States, this spot has been shot by countless photographers and I wanted to get a different perspective and comp of this place.
This image consist of 2 images blended together in Photoshop.

The first shot was taken for the milky way with
an aperture of F2.8 and 30 sec shutter

the second image was taken for the balanced rock with a lot of light painting done at f16 and 45 sec shutter in bulb mode

I have increased saturation for the milky way to pop it up a bit
and reduced the red saturation of balanced rock

This is shot in The Wall Street Section of the Narrows Hike in Zion NP, Utah.

One of the most amazing hikes I have done, passing through ice cold water (30F) in early morning with 1000 feet canyon walls around you was just a surreal experience.

This is the first morning light hitting the walls of the narrows canyon in zion to light up the walls...its an incredible glow that lights the walls in golden orange hues.

I have used a slow shutter speed enough to show some texture in the water flow but not too slow to make it look milky

After 2 years finally got a chance to get this shot processed this past weekend.
This is a panoramic shot consisting of 12 frames stitched manually with distortion and alignment corrections. when I took these shots I had to quickly take them to avoid any motion blur for the sun and some of the clouds.
As the sun rises over the horizon it lights up this amazing natural arch in orange hues.

Bonsai Rock Sunset
Experienced an Epic sunset at Bonsai Rock in lake Tahoe CA.

My Wife and I drove up to Tahoe for the presidents day weekend to ski, was a nice drive as we avoided most of the traffic near Sacramento but as we got closer to Tahoe I realized that it was winter and the sunset time is early so I hurried us to our hotel checked in and I darted to bonsai rock. Last time I was here was couple of years back so I had a little sense of direction but when i got closer i mistakenly parked at a pullout about 3/4 south of the trailhead, I looked around to find the trail head but what looked like a trail was not really a trail (which i realized later) as i descended down the path towards the lake its a steep 100 ft -150 ft descent I ended with big boulders blocking my view of the lake I tried climbing through them to get a view and after some struggle, scratches and a cut on my palm (some rocks are sharp even though they dont look the part) I could see Bonsai rock to north of me so I hiked across many boulders ,shrubs snow to get to this spot right in time for sunset.
quickly took out my brand spanking new D800E and scrambled to get a composition.

I shot this with a B+W polarizer

Isolation
his was taken at China Camp State Park in Marin County San Francisco Bay Area around noon on a overcast day, my initial thought for this shot was to get a Black & White shot with long exposure to still the water and have some cloud motion to make the scene dramatic but what unfolded was quite a different thing.

I was using a Singh Ray 10 stop Vari-ND filter that has a polarizer and had stacked a 3 stop hard edge + 2 stop ND soft grad + 2 stop reverse grad filters

when i looked at the shot on my LCD it was showing magenta blue color cast ...initially I though it was my WB setting but when I opened it up in lightroom for processing my WB setting was quite normal at 5800K so instead of going with my original composition plan I just worked with the color cast to create this image...let me know your thoughts
